Community empowerment and engagement

RDA- strongly believes in community empowerment through its needs based interventions. The RDA approach is to organize local groups (CBOs, COs, village level committees, forums) by sharing responsibilities with them to achieve desired results of development areas. Our work is based on three basic principles Integration, Empowerment and Collaboration. RDA has organized 160 CBOs including 05 CSOs, 08 Women Groups, 25 youth groups and 20 VDRMCs. These CBOs have equal participation of women and in collaboration with RDA are engaged in developmental activities. We believe in transferring the knowledge and skills to help people help them, hence we are providing relevant IEC materials, trainings and tool kits to the target communities through these organizations.

Global public policy engagement

RDA- has participated in different global campaigns such as 16 Days’ of Activism against Gender Based Violence, Global Campaign for Education and International Day of Action for Women’s Reproductive Health Rights, and “STOP TB” Campaign.

National public policy engagement

RDA- participated in the campaign during the review of National Health Policy. RDA advocated for the royalty rights of women and communities during this national level campaign. The role of RDA has been recognized by District Health Department and Provincial Health Ministry.

Knowledge management

RDA- is a growing organization and since its inception it has focused on knowledge management and learning. In this regards:  
- RDA makes efforts to generate innovative ideas while working for and with marginalized communities and incorporates the learning into the new programmatic interventions. The learning’s are shared by the staff in monthly feedback meetings which are documented and further applied in the upcoming activities.
- RDA participates in the trainings, conferences, workshops and symposiums organized by other local, national and international organizations to gain advanced knowledge of development areas. Any RDA staff attending such event is required to impart the learning to other colleagues, the applicable ideas/ practices are discussed in local contexts and recommended for approval to be adopted.
- RDA management and staff members are encouraged to surf internet and books to get new ideas which can be applied by RDA.
- RDA believes that local wisdom holds best solutions hence, we are keen to learn from it, modify and promote best practices
- RDA respects traditional values and practices of its target communities and every effort is made to incorporate these at planning and implementation stages of interventions.
- The published material (soft and hard) is shared with the staff frequently.
- RDA is in the mailing list of number of organizations which share their publications with RDA on regular basis. RDA has its resource center which has collection of these reports, publications, booklets, books, research papers and journals for staff and community members.


RDA- is mandated to work on advocacy aspects of its programmatic areas and is involved in the following advocacy campaigns:  
- RDA through various levels advocates Human Rights, Rights of Children, Women Rights at national/ local level through organizing events, meetings and while participating in national level policy review meetings, where at global level RDA advocates for these through participating in international campaigns.
- RDA documents cases of Violence against Women (VAW) from district Tharparkar through newspapers, courts, police stations and shelter houses. This data is used for advocacy at district, provincial and national levels to bring different legislative and policy level changes to improve the status of women. This data is also used to advocate the politicians, local elected bodies, district administration, police officials, social welfare officers, lawyers, youth, community influential and women groups for ending violation against women.
